Leaking toilet advice please

It is important to ensure that the flush pipe enters the rubber seal parallel.

That may need the joint to the cistern being adjusted a little and tightened up last.

I have never needed any silicone sealant with a new seal that has been able to enter parallel. But if you did decide to add some it will probably need to be totally dry when added.

I have never put silicone onto a flush cone ,however I only ever use black rubber flush cones. Some of them are made from a fairly rigid plastic material ,and in my opinion are totally inferior.
I have no idea what toolstations are made from ,having never used theirs.
I also fit behind the vertical section of the flush pipe ,between it and the wall, some timber support or bracket. That's to prevent the flush pipe from moving backward when wc is in situ.

Thankyou for your advice Agile & Terry. In case the toolstation seal turns out to be naff, where do you recommend getting the black rubber seal from?

I get mine from local independent plumbers merchant but I expect most plumbers merchants would stock rubber flush cones.
