Hi all

Not strictly DIY here but hoping someone with more knowledge can help me out.

We moved into a a house (mid 90s) a few weeks back. Been riddled with problems. Today we are getting the boiler and radiators replaced, going from a standard boiler with hot water cylinder (mains fed, no storage tank) to a Combi.
The installers turned up today and have mentioned in passing to me that they're surprised no one spoke to me about risks of leaks with doing this. Basically saying I'm going from probably around 0.3 bar to 1.5bar+ in the heating system and that if the fittings aren't great then I can get a leak. I got the impression they were trying to not say too much but thought it was an issue. Pipework is plastic going to the radiators.

If I do start getting a leak, I assume I'll notice it by pressure drops in boiler? If this happens then how "easy" is it to find the source of the leak? I guess if it's weeping round a radiator it's not too bad but imagine it's more likely to happen at manifold which I have no idea where they are.

Generally any advice on how likely this is and how resolvable it is would be much appreciated. The house has been a genuine disaster since we moved in so I fully expect the worst case scenario here

Cheers

It can happen but it's rare. If it does happen you'll know where when the damp patch appears
