Good points from jobandknock .... it was nailed with cut clasp nails through the corner of the tongue at every joist. Most nails came up with the boards. Some where left in the joists.
Floorboards are approx 137x27mm pitch pine .... fairly standard for Victorian properties in Edinburgh. Max lengths were about 5m!
I forgot to mention I am replacing the floor with 22mm ply base and 8mm laminate. I only lifted them carefully so they could be reused by someone else. Several neighbours took them all away to repair their floors.
And of course all the boards were trashed where sparks and plumbers had butchered the floor.
