Light fitting loop connection

Current state below. I’ve now tried fitting each of the brown cables (from the set of 2 brown cables) to the live connection box in the new light fitting but still no luck.

The blues are your problem, they needed to be connected together and to the light fitting. The loose one is probably the supply. Also I can't tell if there's anything connecting the three terminals of the live block together? Otherwise they will not be connected together. You need to either feed them into a single terminal or connect them together on the other side with short bits of conductor.
You also need to sleeve the CPC (earth) conductors fully and separately)

Thanks, so just to clarify connect both the blue wires into the new black connector box for the new fitting.

The live block terminals aren’t connected together, can I just connect all 3 of them into a single terminal of the same type or do I need a different kind of terminal?

Yes all what you said is fine. Good luck, don't forget to switch off the mains first!

Edit blues into a single terminal , and browns into another single terminal I mean.

I always say enthusiasm, willingness to learn and a good attitude will get you a long way in life. Oh, and isolating the power at the consumer unit of course.

Contrast this poster with the one on the thread "two way switching" and decide who you would like to spend your time to help more?

The OP needs an Electrician. Competence in electrical work is clearly not present.

Not everyone should attempt their own electrical work.

Spetel - before you started you knew full well that all the blues were connected together.

And now you've decided to wire it so that they are not connected together, and are bemused by the fact that it no longer works properly.

I can't help but think that you are not cut out for electrical work.
