My light switch had to be replaced due to the button breaking. The back wire entry points in the new switch are in a different orientation, have I swapped the wires correctly? Furthermore the light switch in the adjacent room is now not working, is the wiring linked to this switch in some way and I have not put the wires in the correct entry points. The black switch is the new one.

Looks like you need to swap some wires around.
Old switch L1 is the same as COM on the new switch. L2 and L3 on the old correspond to L1 and L2 on the new switch respectively.

The red link needs to go between the two COM terminals. The yellow wire goes into L1 of one of the switches and the remaining two reds into L1 and L2 of the other.

Edit: I see more red wires in the second picture than in the first, that makes it really hard to tell which wire is which.

Thanks, will check this out. Added more photos as bottom right entry point had three red wires in it, with one being the red link

That’s 2 G unit so best you mark the cables and take another photo before you take anything apart

The line here

shows which terminals relate to which switch, L1 on old switch is Com on new switch. So L2 = L1 and L3 = L2.

It is a two way switch, so wire in Com is important, if on new switch L1 and L2 are swapped (L2 and L3 on old switch) it will only change if switched up or down to turn on, the Com wire is the important wire.

In the first pic, there is a red wire with lots of white paint that is not attached and in the second picture there is a wire not attached, very close to the earth terminal. What is going on with these?

It looks like it (they?) should be attached to a terminal. On the old switch, is there the remains of some wire in that L3 terminal?

Changed it but room next door is still not working. There also looks to be a spare red wire that was not connected and tucked away at the back. This could be the 5th wired mentioned, this is it pointing to 8 o’clock position. Also photos show new wire connections, what needs swapped to get room next door working?

Thanks

The two reds with lots of white paint go into the COM terminals on the new switch, the third red and the yellow each go into one of the L1 terminals. That should sort out the lights next door, unless that spare red was in fact connected and came loose as you pulled the switch forward before you could see it.
