Light tripping when turned off

hi I'm trying to help my in laws but installing a light a switch in their garage.

I've run all the cables and when I turned the CU back on the light came on fine. When I switch it off it trips!??

Can some kind soul help

If one of those cables is for the switch, when the switch is on you are shorting out the supply and have probably destroyed the switch.

You may wish to stop "helping" your rellies...or they may end up as late rellies. At least, until you've a safer grasp of the basics. No offence, but you don't just guess with electrics.
