Lighting circuit error

I have traced back the wires To where I started. The switch wire is ok, I was getting continuity readings from both. I thought this was expected but now and I clearly realise that this is a bad sign. I traced one of the wires back (I only just found this out) and it came to a shaving socket where the live wire was not in correctly, secured it and did the continuity test on it and it did not create a circuit. I am now going to trace the other wire.

I will add that this house was very poorly built and maintained. New internal walls built on top of carpet plastered walls over wallpaper etc!

Read and understand how your two way circuit works - you should be able to substitute the old colours for the new ones.
