i did. she stuck her fingers up! (even tho i was tryin remind her she had no lights on. makes you wonder how she knew how fast she was goin

lol

incidentally i have had a few near misses with cyclists (little kids on 2 wheel objects, some of which have no seats and little bars sticking out of the sides and are totally un-roadworthy). Both times, at dusk, i had my lights on, BUT WHERE ARE THEIRS? I have great respect for the average man or woman on a bike, who has a little flashing light that catches your eye, simply because i know i am not going to run him down. These kids are ASKING FOR TROUBLE and i hope I WOULD NOT GET BLAMED if i accidentally ran into one of them as they weave around the roads in the estate up the road at dusk WITH NO LIGHTS.

2 years ago, when i was 18, i used my lights, in fact i bought new lights for my dual suspension bike, when i had to cycle to work, but i didn't need them, as i was cycling on designated cycle paths all the way.

These little 14 year olds weave all over the road like they own it and they are invincible, without a care in the world, THEY NEED TO BE SEEN YET THEY WONT FORK OUT A FEW QUID FOR SOME LIGHTS BECAUSE ITS NOT COOL. well i wonder if they think its cool to be run over? because that's whats going to happen one of these days. Their parents need a brain scan, see if theres anything there.

AFAIK, its illegal for a bike not to have lights on when dark - just like a car

I agree, I don't like drivers who don't put their lights on, but we have all done it. I know once or twice i have driven off and forgot to put lights on, thinking they already were on. Especially when in a really lit up area.
What I really hate is the eejits who drive everywhere with full beam on, blinding everyone else.
Or maybe even worse, them little p**cks who have blue bulbs in their head lamps. Even though you have done nothing wrong you see one of them in your rear view mirror, and you think its a copper behind you.

You would've thought the car manufacter put a flashing warning light by using a dusk to dawn sensor on your dashboard telling you to put the lights on.

I have often crossed the centre divide and flasshed my lights at oncoming cars with no lights on..they soon put them on..if the don't I phone the Police and report it...(Obviously no 999 though).

You would be surprised at how grateful the Police are as it could be an accident waiting to happen, a stolen car or someelse doing something illegal.

It is fecking annoying...

Renault have 'auto lights function' which sometimes switches them on when necessary, same with wipers and rain .... Thankfully both are driver switchable.
:D :D :D

I see quite a few driving instuction school cars trundling along with no lights! Thought these instuctors were profesionals???? How dim

I was walking back from a bar with a mate last night, he waved at someone to tell them they had no lights on and the driver gave him the finger!

I think another problem is Halfords selling "not for street use" lamps. I have seen people on the road with illegally bright dipped headlights, perhaps they are dim and didn't read the packaging, perhaps they are just morons. But either way, why does Halfords sell bulbs that can't be used on the road legally? Surely hardcore off-roaders have special sealed light units that can be used for fording and such? And despite the many custom car shows I have been to, I have never seen one with a "brightest headlights" competition.

and car places that sell illegally loud exhaust systems and engine mods - advertising them as "easily removable" so the car will pass its MOT and if the police are about they wont get done etc. Public nuisances - these places want shutting down.

More than once i have opened my window to enjoy the fresh air, got comfortable at my desk, when all of a sudden chavvy-boy-racers-c/w-14-year-old-girlfriends-and-battered-up-cars-inc turn up and floor their crapmobiles up my street, shattering the silence. the great thing is, my 1.2 nissan micra rental car can probably out-perform their scrap-yards-on-wheels.

These boy-racers also have illegal lights - those blue things under their cars and on the bonnet. My understanding is that police can only fine you if they see them switched on. It should be that the police can fine you if THEY ARE ATTACHED TO YOUR CAR (but change the law secretly so they all get fined)

AdamW, i know the feeling, i was waving at someone once to dip their headlights as i was walking along, he had full beam on, and he just sped up past me (though i was in a semi-drunk state  )

They should get banged up for even THINKING about having them on their cars, the sad pricks
