Hi,

Bit confused how to wire a replacement lightwave switch. An electrician replaced it with a normal one so not sure how it was done. I've got 4 red wires, 2 thick ones would presume are live. The other 2 would they be switching cables. The left side connected to upstairs which has a corresponding light switch.
Thanks

To start with, you will need to check which wire is the one that brings power to the switch.

A voltmeter would be ideal.

Thanks, I realised I'm out of my depth with this and managed to put the replacement switch back. Have arranged an electrician for fitting the new one. Out of interest how safe is it to test live wires? Would a normal voltmeter be enough?

If you posted a picture of the wiring behind the old switch (wires still fitted) then you could have got a solution to figure out your new switch.

If you know what you're doing and do it correctly then it's safe.

Yes. A multimeter that can measure up to 250V AC.
