Local elections.

I do wonder if Libraries will eventually either need to evolve in to some sort of combined council service office/meeting place/cafe.. or die.

If they were private shops they'd go bust. My gut reaction is to try to protect the library, but logically the near £1Bn annual spend can't be defended given how many people they serve. It costs about £3 per visit.

Many do already offer many other services. Local libraries in Essex have toddler reading groups, citizens advice, social events for seniors, computer coaching, knitting groups, history talks, teen group support, book clubs, gaming groups, scrabble, language conversations groups, chair exercise groups and even music sometimes.

Part of the problem is that if they were commercial, they'd spend more on marketing and more people would know what's on. Most people think they still just have books on shelves.
Although the Internet has obviously reduced the need for finding facts and information retrieval, which is what many were largely for in the past.

But, they should be improved, not closed. They are naturally at the heart of the community and when they close they are usually just abandoned buildings, a waste of investment and real estate!

Our local library has already morphed to to library, meeting rooms and most council functions, but they don't serve tea yet.

I'm just not interested in your childish petulant antics Lal. I'm quite happy for you to believe what ever you'd like.
'childish petulant antics'?

I thought you were skulking off because 'the weather's too nice'....

As for what you believe in?

I guess that's whatever the 'confusion' decides upon ;)

MOD: I would strongly advise you and @SammyInnit to quit the squabbling.

@ellal You really are as dumb as a box of rocks. You were warned about your behaviour, you are now banned from this thread.

My vote will be based on Brexit
Will that be on the same principle that saw many people vote in the EU referendum for reasons which were nothing to do with membership of the EU?

I wonder how much of a ($£*%($))( mess people have to create before the destructive lunacy of voting for the wrong reasons sinks in.

If I vote for Tory or Labour they will think they as a party have done me no wrong. Like I've said before I will never vote either of them again

Unfortunately it seems that in this election I have only those 2 parties to choose from Bodd.

So I may go in an poop all over my form as a protest. (not real poop - just pictures of poop :) )
Maybe next year Ill have to stand for UKIP in my area just toput the cat among the pigeons - especially if we are still in that damn EU :)

It appears that you simply are not intelligent enough to grasp the idea that you vote in local elections on the basis of local issues, local performance and local party policies.

You're as dumb as all the people who voted to leave the EU as a protest against things which were nothing to do with membership of the EU.

I never voted out as a protest. I won't bother insulting you.

Looks like many voted as a protest.

On the news, “Conservatives and Labour loose out in Brexit Backlash”.
