It's about time Joe-90 was banned.

Website forums can be closed down for not managing racist (and other defamatory) comments and admin have an obligation to deal with the problem.

Simply removing posts several hours after they were posted isn't good enough as the damage has been done by then.

If Joe-90 (or anyone else) posts racist remarks like those I witnessed last time from him and those concerned aren't banned from the site I will be reporting this site to the Commission for Racial Equality as a first step and the site owners can take their chances ... Admin, you have been warned.

That's hardly comprable MW! I agree joe90 is a wind up merchant, but it's one thing posting topics about immigration and another posting hard racist material. I doubt the Commission for Racial Equality would be interested as anything dodgy is removed as and when it's reported, otherwise how would massive forums like BBC, Yahoo Groups and similar still be online?

I would suggest the ignore button!!

Jeeves, you quite obviously haven't seen the posts I'm referring to ... It's not about the usual nonsense he posts I have no interest in that whatsoever ... And, he IS on my ignore list.

It's not sufficient evidence of due diligence by admins to simply remove posts ... offenders must be dealt with.
As I say, this site can be a test case as I will report it next time Joe-90 posts something offensive which I'm sure WILL happen.

So watch this space.

I have seen posts which have been locked or deleted and I think the mods do a great job here. There are some forums that have minimal moderation and anything can be said - and it is.
I like this forum and see it as much calmer and friendlier than many others.
Why are you trying to rock the boat on this inoffensive site which gives many people great plesure, when there are so many far worse forums out there to tangle with?
Is this a personal vendetta between certain individuals? If you find someone unacceptable - ignore them.
If you find the site unacceptable - ignore it and go elsewhere to fly your flag.
You appear to be a trouble maker rather than a do-gooder in my eyes.

I am certainly not a do-gooder though

I simply do not think it appropriate in a family forum to have the same individuals repeatedly posting such offensive material without sanction.

Nor, IMO, will the authorities.

To say, if you don't like it go elsewhere is a little naive

True, other racists would have no problem with the comments I have seen

It is subjective and down to the integrity of the Mods who, in all the cases I have seen, have removed the posts ... And generally locked the threads!

My issue is why the same individuals are allowed to cause issues like this when Admin have the ability to suspend/ban accounts.

My opinion isn't the issue here anyhow, the authorities can decide.

I am on here alot - post seldom but I have not seen anything that could be classed as racist - nowhere near. I read alot of the immigration/asylum topics posted by joe-90 & similar and nothing I have seen is anything worse that what is printed daily in Daily Mail & similar.

I must admit i haven't read the offending remarks but are we now so intolerant of free speach in this country now that even on a site such as this if you dont think the admin are doing their job in your eyes that you are prepared to take it further and report the site.Some one said somewhere and of someone(Sir I hate everything you say but I will fight to the death your right to say it.)

I don't find immigration topics offensive, boring due to the repetition but easily ignored?

I find racist statements made in such a way as to be offensive ... Offensive ... Or, put another way ... I find racists offensive.

The original posts are completely incidental now as they have long since been deleted, it's what happens moving forward which interests me.

Why is it naive to ask you to go to a different site if you do not like what you see on this one - surely that is your prerogative.
Racial issues are bound to be part of everyday life as the papers and media are full of related stories and people are affected by and fear change. I think we all find headlines and comments frustrating at times, but I would hate to see a time when we were frightened or intimidated to voice our opinions or fears. I agree some people enjoy winding others up and aggravating the situation in many areas of life, but to stop them in their tracks, rather than ignoring them and treating them with contempt is also wrong. I think it is important to be aware of people with strong opinions, rather than shutting them all out - surely this is a reflection of life. The mods do a great job in moderating discussion of topics in a sensible, acceptable way. I think it is good to see comments removed and sanctioned, but I would hate to see people totally removed - surely that is the beginning of the end of democracy.
