You've got this the wrong way round Oompah ... If I want to be offended by racist material I will go and attend a BNP rally not read posts on a family DIY site.

That's why the site has forum rules to safeguard posters from offensive material ... All I'd like to see is repeat offenders dealt with accordingly.

Why is it naive to ask you to go to a different site if you do not like what you see on this one - surely that is your prerogative.
Racial issues are bound to be part of everyday life as the papers and media are full of related stories and people are affected by and fear change. I think we all find headlines and comments frustrating at times, but I would hate to see a time when we were frightened or intimidated to voice our opinions or fears. I agree some people enjoy winding others up and aggravating the situation in many areas of life, but to stop them in their tracks, rather than ignoring them and treating them with contempt is also wrong. I think it is important to be aware of people with strong opinions, rather than shutting them all out - surely this is a reflection of life. The mods do a great job in moderating discussion of topics in a sensible, acceptable way. I think it is good to see comments removed and sanctioned, but I would hate to see people totally removed - surely that is the beginning of the end of democracy.

But surely that is what the mods are doing - safeguarding the rules and keeping the site in an acceptable manner. I think they police it extremely well.

My opinion is that we live in an overcrowded island and immigration will make things far worse in the long term.

I don't care whether they come from Poland or Brazil or Australia or Denmark - we don't need a larger population.

If we need migrant workers then offer them work permits for temporary entry. When the contract expires - then they go home.

People from Somalia or Bangladesh are not allowed to migrate here. The government has decided that. I guess they must be the 'wrong' race? So, megawatt - why don't you contact the government over their racial slant on immigration? Better still, why don't you debate the subject with me? If you dare that is?

These immigration /rascist threads have been going on and off as long as I can remember since two to three years ago virtually after general discussion was started, it rears itself up again and again with different people but the same old argument.
