Hi everyone

I'm doing a loft conversion and trying to do as much work as I can before I get the professionals in. I have existing downlighters in the ground floor ceiling. At the moment there's just gaps in the insulation to allow heat out. I'm shortly going to be laying 22mm chipboard flooring in the loft. Should I be putting some sort of heat resistant or fire retardant cover over the downlighters before I lay the floor?

Help would be much appreciated.

I can't understand what the ground floor ceiling has to do with a loft conversion ... unless it's a bungalow

Yes - I was assuming it was a bungalow, otherwise, as you say, there would be no point.
