My child’s bed has these fittings and the screws come loose every few months. I’ve tried slightly bigger screws and packing the hole with bits of wood.
Screws or bolts?
Sometimes there are metal insert in wood that takes a bolt not a screw.
Was it definitely a screw you took out?
If a screw Then buy 3mm wood dowel from DIY store or Hobbycraft.
Put some wood glue in hole. Tap in towel.
Give it 2 hours and fit screw in hole.

If you are able to drill right through both, and fit a nut and bolt, you will get a more durable fixing.
It is best to put a penny washer under the nut and the head of the bolt so it can be firmly tightened without tearing into the timber.
Beds are also made with strange fixings such as barrel nuts, sleeve nuts and half-moons, but you will notice these when you take out the old ones. You will find them on Ebay listed as "bed screws". Otherwise, normal nuts abd bolts are fine.
