The French are doing border checks on behalf of us in Calais.
The French agreed to allow British Border Agency Staff to operate at the Calais terminal. All the French do is provide space amd premises for the BA staff to operate in and the French Police take away any persons the British bar from travelling to the UK. This agreement was agreed outside of the EU Commision and could continue after the UK leave the EU. It is said to benefit both the UK and France. The French want to get rid of the "Jungle", what better way than just pull out with their Border Control and Immigration, send back British Border staff to UK and let the migrants chose how they want to come here, they would have free access to Lorry , Ferry, Airport, Tunnel
The Border would then be moved onto UK Soil, other than that we stop all traffic movement between the UK and France.

We have decided to come out of the EU, its now totally our problem !

The French like the UK Border Staff to get stowaways out of French lorries in France where the French driver can be treated "nicely" in the French courts. If the stowaway is found in a French lorry of UK soil then the lorry can be impounded for several days as the UK courts deal harshly with the driver and his vehicle.

For the French transport industry the operation of UK border controls in France has many advantages

The jungle would still exist, the inhabitants would just have the occasional day trip to Dover and back.

The answer there is that the French will just turn a blind eye to vehicles with English Registration but concentrate on Foreign Vehicles and stowaway migrants getting on the Ferry to UK
It then becomes a Double Whammy When the vehicle enters the UK our own vehicles will be impounded and given a hefty fine.

We made the law, our problem, we want out of the EU, our problem, we want our own Border Control, our Problem.

The Mayor of Calais wants the jungle moved to UK. The French President is content to continue with the current arrangement.
Except, of course, that UK was paying for it. Now that the pound is worth 10% less, it'll mean the cost to us will increase by at least 10%, if it continues at all.
It was £7 million over 2 years. It'll now be £7.7 million each two years, but it'll probably increase exponentially, 'cos now we've got to stop the EU citizens as well.

Anybody else want to deport him?
