please could anyone help me.

I have recently moved into a new house and find that when i turn on the upstairs hw taps they omit a squealing sound and splutter, as the water gets warmer the pipes behind the basins begin to vibrate and gradually get more violent.

I have tried letting the taps run but this only cures the problem for a short while.

What could be the problem?

New house as in Newbuild....or New to You....either way pipes are in need of clipping .......I just love new houses

Thanks. The house is two years old, what is involved in clipping the pipes?

Buy some pipe clips and install them - it's just a case of drilling/plugging/screwing them into masonry, or just screwing them into wood.

If they're in the loft then clip roughly every meter. It's not critical - you'll soon get the idea of how close together to put the clips to stop everthing waving around.

If the pipe is too far from the nearest surface then use a small block of wood to distance off; you can also get spacer blocks to fit sungly under the clips - ask at your plumbers' merchant.
