LPG hob to natural gas

I measeured it again last night and the worktops are about 49cm deep, so if I got a 45cm deep oven would 4cm at the back be enough for ventilation?

That depends on what the manufacturer requires.
Its more common to have electric ovens.

Yea, nice one Tony.

OP, a fan is an extrctor, which are needed, but the ventilator allows air INTO the room. As has been said, kitchens have different requirements depending on thier volume, and as boilerman suggests, we have all had clients arguing the toss, because they can't believe that an existing appliance is fitted wrongly.

"It's been like that for years" is a commonly uttered statement. If only i had a £......................................

Thanks for all the advice. Having considered your comments I've decided to redisign the layout of my kitchen to accommodate a standatd 60x60 built in electric oven. This unit will have to stand out of the existing units by 100mm or so but I will have new worktops which will stick out by the same amount over the oven. This way I can get a standard sized hob over the oven too.

Would I be able to get away with a gas hob though? I would really prefer gas, there is an extractor fan above the cooking area, 2 doors into the room (1 either end of the galley kitchen) and the room is about 3m x 2m in size.
