So how much do you think they use then? 5watts, 20watts.......18.67895456watts?

They use 50watts!!!!! Thats why it's printed on the lamp!!!!!

Aks your electrician how much he thinks they use, then bill him for the rest of the electric they have consumed after the first quarter.

I was concerned that each light would consume 50w

They will actually consume slightly more, overall.

The sparky said that as they are 12v, due to the step down process they don't actually use 50w.

Get yourself a new electrician - your present one is a bit hard-of-thinking.
