Magic corner installation

I was chuffed to bits to find a magic corner on marketplace for a really good price. There was no instructions but I thought it wouldn’t be a problem - till I realised that I actually don’t know where it goes

I assume it should go flush with the side of the unit, but I have a socket there.

Can anyone advise please?

I think you need to post some pics. of what you have bought and where you want to fit it and the offending socket. If you mean one of those devices that swing in and out of a kitchen corner unit then you will need the makers name and model to be able to get instalation instructions

. If your socket was changed to 13A FCU then you might have room for the rails to slide over it instead of the socket

That video you put in was massively helpful.

I’d taken the top part off as it’s so heavy to move.

I’m definitely going to have to do something with the socket. I’ve got it as close to my dishwasher cable as I can and the right hand basket is just shy of clearing the door post.

If I change it to an FCU as you suggested, that 3cm gap where the cable comes through will be enough but would I not still have the same problem with the back box?

I was thinking that if I just turned the socket round 90 degrees it might work?

Move plug and socket to under the cabinet, access via the plinth removed if/when needed?

If the socket is fed from a FCU above the countertop and worried about water/power on the floor, fit waterproof plug and socket (unfused so the FCU is advisable).

An FCU should utilise the same back box as the current socket uses and you would bring the cable out of the bottom of it, as it does now, so it would lay flat on the base. You could fix it with a cable clip by the hole to ensure it did not move. Or as Rodders says move the socket to under the cupboard, but you would need a new backbox probably.
