I understand your dilemma and can sympathise with the lack of confidence, but...
Why not try it? If you get stuck connecting it to the existing tap (the only non-trivial bit) then call a guy out to sort it. By then you'll have done all the hard work by burying it in the ground and you never know, you might manage to do it by yourself.
