if you want to go ultra basic and cheap and tatty then may I suggest
1). Line of LED lights with 2x AA battery pack from Poundland for (wait for it) £1
2). Use microswiches rather than you red switch as less force on door. Here are 5 off with a wheel to further reduce force.

On poundland lights, cut one of the wires that comes out of battery pack. Pass this wire through microswitch, Screw mircoswitch onto door frame. Sellotape or hotglue gun Led light strip and battery pack onto cupboard ceiling.
