"Prime Minister Mark Carney on Sunday announced a national election would be held on April 28 as Canada faced “the most significant crisis of our lifetime” caused by US President Donald Trump.

Carney called the poll a fortnight after replacing Justin Trudeau as head of Canada’s Liberal party and two months since stepping into the leadership race."

"Trump’s hostilities and tariff threats have united Canadians against a new common enemy, the US, leading to a remarkable turnaround of support for the Liberals."

Right-wing Conservative leader Poilievre had previously been leading the polls but is now furiously back-pedalling away from his Trumpist and MAGA position.

I cannot understand why he has imposed these tariffs and what he is doing, I thought them a good thing for America in general. I think it will be Trump himself that sees sense and puts a stop to them.

Trudeau had to resign because he and the party were desperately unpopular, his party was doomed to lose the election. I can understand Carney being more popular than Trudeau, but he's kind of jumping on an anti Trump bandwagon.

It might work, it might not. Let's have a look at the opposition.

"X owner and billionaire Elon Musk, who repeatedly mocks Trudeau, regularly tweets his support for Poilievre,"

Could be the kiss of death.
