MATHAMATICAL EQUATION QUESTION

How is percentage worked out.

eg. 430 - 18% = 352.6 BUT

If you have 352.6 + 18% it comes to 416.068

what is the formula to work this one out.

Use decimals shift your deci point two places left changing percent to

decimal. 18.0 % = 0.18

430 x ( 1 - 0.18 ) ....

430 x 0.82 = 352.6
now move the 0.82 (82%) to the other side of the equals sign - how?

Divide both sides of the equation by 0.82, it cancels out on the left side but remains as the divisor of 352.6 on the right hand side...
430 = ( 352.6 ÷ 0.82 )

Also 1÷ 0.82 = 1.219 512 195 12 and that x 352.6 = 430
So 430 is greater than 352.6 by 21.95'ish % (of 352.6)
