hi just wondering anyone got any idea on the alternative voteing system

what do you want to know? 'Voteing' is spelled (or spelt? ) voting.... and it's suggested it'll reduce 'wasted' votes, whereby votes in a 'safe' seat won't count.

I think it's a move in the right direction.

I want referendums next... and many of them...

spelling not my strong point but what i would like system simlair to say french system where you cast your vote no one gets 50% then top too canidates get go for one final round
my problem with my understanding of it would leed to more hung parliments

sorry  didn't mean to take the pee!!

i think it should be purely a count of votes.... e.g 28mill v 25mill v 7mill votes.... so 28mill wins !!

so you could have a 1 vote difference!!

so maybe the difference determined the length of term? e.g. 1 vote = 1 day? or you serve 1 year for every million votes you win by?

A rumour put about by those political parties who think a change might not be in their interests, and the newspapers who support them.

I can't see PR working at all. The way I see it, whoever you vote for as the Second choice, will probably come first. I can see PR leading to, hung parliaments all the time, depending on what PR system they actually are going for. I can't comment on what system we are voting for as I've had absolutely no election leaflets through the door about this (and only a month to go).
Seems to me, we are being kept in the dark (for reasons beyond out control)

Ahh well,, Looks like crossing Yes or No out and writing in I don't know what the F I'm voting for on the paper. ;) ;) ;)

so there's 5 of us, and 2 vote for channel 4 and the others vote for bbc1,2 and itv..

you don't realise we're watching channel4?????

Well Martian, I tend to watch Channel 5, a lot, but flicking through the channels (as I do) I tend to pick something I'm interested in. At this time of night, I usually pick Channel 3, Family Guy, followed by American Dad (F, in great), but as they have now been on, I'm stuck with 5 USA, watching Grissom and Horatio, solving unsolvable crimes. I've also had quite a few pints tonight, down one of the local hostelry's, so please ignore my comments.
PS, usually it's Her Indoors who picks what we watch, but I retain the power of overide, (on all TV decisions) when I have had more than 6 pints. ;) ;) ;) ;) (I don't really, but it makes me feel good!!!!)

(looks like I'm sleeping on the sofa again!!!) ;) ;) ;) ;)

That's what the AV vote is on about, isn't it? Labour couldn't win the last election, regardless of votes, in the last election. But first past the post is only used in one other country I believe? And their system is corrupt? No no-win for anyone.

Well Micky. Who wins with PR? Almost certain that your first selection won't win (unless they get at least 51% on the first round. If , however, they don't then it moves to second etc. I can see the Monster Raving Loony party getting their first ever, election victory!! Heaven help us.

I dunno. Help me out,,, Can someone explain how this PR works? Show me a good example of how the person I vote for first , actually win's an election......Or,,,, how an absolute no hoper get's elected.. ;) ;) ;)

It will make no difference, we will still end up with a bunch of thieving dishonouable self serving b*******s.
