MCB tripped and will not reset (sorry, not RCD)

do your best to make sure he knows and fits the exact part no, rather than any odd spare he has in the van. Most importantly, don't accept a part by another maker.

I'm between Portsmouth and Chichester.

Thanks all for your help. Problem was indeed a faulty MCB. Managed to get a local electrician to pop in and change it over late afternoon and we're all back to normal. MCB was replaced with a Hager unit (all be-it different looking to the existing ones).
