MCB tripping, another thread...

. I'm pretty sure it's an MCB as it's almost identical to the MCB in the image above.
I would be interested to know what you - as a non-electrician - think is the difference between the RCBO and the MCB in the very poor picture.


Incidentally an RCBO is also an RCD and the RCD is an RCCB.

No, the picture is not very helpful.


For the OP - The RCBO (as will an RCD), include a small 'test' button, the button will often be yellow, though some can be other colours, and likely marked with a letter T. Pressing the button, will cause the RCBO to disconnect.

An MCB, will lack any such button.

The functional difference between the two, is that an RCBO, combines the MCB, with an RCD, in a single package. The MCB provides over current protection, the RCD section provides protection from earth leakage.

I had a similar fault on a rental, found a slug across L&N in an underfloor JB
