Melted plug.

Defective plug, or defective socket, or both.
If the plug melted while in the socket, the socket must also be replaced.

. It’s a homemade extension spur with a plug - about 2 feet of 1.5 cable - socket.
Destroy that and dispose of it.

If the socket outlet isn't close enough to the heater, then either have the socket relocated or have the appliance lead replaced with a longer one.

Thanks for that.

I don’t really know the ins and outs of it all, I just got a phone call tonight asking me to ask on here.

I THINK the home made extension was used so they could easily access the plug.

Should I tell them to ask the electrician if he can run an FCU from the socket instead?

Any particular make of socket and plug to recommend?

Thanks.

Why have previous posts been removed?

In no way do I doubt that @flameport 's reply is correct, but it is difficult to follow threads when the key posts have been deleted.

Because they were incorrect information from me.
I was going by info I received on the phone and after visiting him it’s a completely different setup.

And this forum won’t allow me to delete it.
