Just in the process of prepping the hallway for reskim and I've seen videos on YouTube where they use mesh roll in older 1930s properties where hairline cracks appear and to prevent further. The one video he embedded the mesh into the 1st coat them 2nd skimmed. As I'm tryin to do as much as poss in prep and I quite enjoy it but I can't plaster for the life of me my question is can the mesh be stuck to the wall with pva as part of my prep and then pva again prior to the skim?
Any help greatly appreciated

Just to confirm you have cavity walls?
If not then don't use gypsum plaster.

I always embedded mesh in plaster but I'm sure I read somewhere where a guy used PVA. Not really the way to do it though.
Your probably better cutting ready to apply as that takes the time.
You could apply mesh horizontal on big walls.

Pink Sbr walls.
Cut mesh ready.
Get sockets and switches removed.
Radiators removed.

No I don't have cavity walls.... what plaster should I use ? Already done the bedrooms with normal multifinsh and havnt had any problems. Thanks

Lime plaster or limelite renovation plaster.

Gypsum plaster can cause damp issues on single brick skin walls.
You can also insulate walls and plasterboard over then you can use gypsum multi finish plaster.
You have options.
Take advice though or do some research.
This is one way .

How not to do it.

I don't know if this applies to my house.... it is double skinned brick with a very small cavity. Not insulated....typical construction for the 30s. ‍♂️
