One of the negatives re social media is the fact people with reach can post any old guff and a significant percentage of their followers believe the guff without doing much if any fact-checking of their own.

It's also dangerous, sometimes extremely so, when it comes to misinformation/lies leading to innocent folk being targeted to varying degrees.

I only believed the stuff that appealed to my own prejudices.
Just like most people.
Thats why i deleted my accounts after about a week.
Apart from all the political claptrap on Facebook there are the people who feel compelled to post a daily account of their deeply uninteresting lives, what they have for breakfast, pictures of their dog dressed in silly outfits and that sort of thing.
I don't understand why people take these social media platforms so seriously.
