But the data there is awful. Most deaths of any sort aren't logged in a civil database so you can't even do excess mortality comparisons. And with such low testing volumes the death stats for confirmed cases is meaningless.

They're using the reported stats from the government. They don't go and collect their own.

Nothing you've posted implies the stats are an accurate count of the dead. The Guardian article you have listed implies that the quoted numbers are a significant under estimate. If a single funeral home worker is seeing 30 people a day, the majority of them Covid cases then I doubt the total for a hole country topped out at 90 per day.

I believe my sources are reputable.

Some have been involved in frontline nursing of Covid patients both in UK and in Germany.

One is a research virologist.

My point was that trying to dig into the data, which we know is untrustworthy, too much is a bad idea.

Their positivity rate for a Covid test is similar to ours at 1.5% (ours is 1.7% at the moment). If we were doing the same proportion of test for population they are and all other things were equal we'd have reported around 160 new cases yesterday instead of 46,858

The test data is pointless. Infections with severe symptoms and deaths should be the only concern. My brothers partner was ill, not too bad, so got tested and was positive. My brother was fine, but had a test and was also positive. They both had all 3 jabs and flu vaccine. What does this show ? Not much really, you can still get it if fully jabbed, did the vaccine help them ? possibly, but no one will know for sure. I'm sure his result will be recorded as another infection, but how many thousands are the same, positive with absolutely no symptoms ? Just muddies the water.
