Michael Mosley missing

I can’t say for his exact location but there is normally excellent phone coverage in that area. The only issue will be stopping you carrier welcoming you to turkey and charging you extra fees. Symi used to be a beautiful fishing island with a monastery on the SW side and village on the NE side. But now it’s a massive over crowded island with cruise liners in the monastery bay and super yachts in old town.

If you are thinking sleepy Greek island. You are about 30 years too late.

A health adviser who decides to go for a walk in 40+ Celsius and that too at the peak of the heat.

Collapses due to heat stroke.

But he had an umbrella and water apparently and it was less then 1 mile from where he started.

You seem to have a penchant for stating the obvious in this thread. Is your imagination lacking?

It’s a pity Michael Mosely didn’t consider the obvious when he set off on his 'incredible climb'.

He planned and prepared for a short walk, but age and circumstances did for him. I always thought of him as someone selling fad diets but the 5:2 diet or a variation of it, is appealing. In some ways its more difficult to eat less than it is to fast for a while.

There is no big mountain that I recall between pedi and Agia. Maybe 300m rocky path/climb.

The highest point on the island is 600m and that is further south.

Also the forecast is 26-30 so 40 degrees would be unusually hot. Don’t normally see 40 degrees until August

I don't mean this as a joke, when looking at the pics and reports of how close he got to the beach resort, I wonder if he'd been able to muster the energy to shout 'help' two or three times if that might have been enough to alert others? I appreciate his physical state latterly might have meant this wasn't possible, however it adds to the tragedy given just how close he was to safety.

Edit: I suppose on the other hand if he saw the beach resort his thinking was maybe 'almost there' therefore no need to draw attention to himself.

His wife is reported as saying he took a wrong path. So perhaps they were in phone contact at some point?

An autopsy may tell a different story, one never knows.

An autopsy on the body of Dr Michael Mosley revealed the popular TV medic and Mail columnist died of 'natural causes' two and a half hours after leaving his wife to head for a walk.

Dr Mosley, 67, was found dead by a fence at the resort of Agia Marina on Sunday morning just 260 feet from a beach bar and safety.

The autopsy carried out by Rhodes coroner Despina Nethena showed that there was no third party involvement and no 'criminal' element involved - but a definite cause of death has yet to be established

Just another thought on his approach to life, he certainly enjoyed experimenting on himself. You never know he may have had a slightly twisted fascination with pushing himself to the edge of mortality, and in this instance took it just too far.

May he rest in peace all the same. He was someones caring loving dad/husband and friend.

Mrs Motties mate who I walk our dog with most mornings has been a fan of his for years - she's always saying "Did you see that programme with Michael Mosely last night on the telly" and then precedes to tell me all about it. This morning she said she felt 'devastated' by his death.
