Miel W828 "I-On/O-Off" button does not stay pushed

I am trying to fix a Miel W828 washing machine. The indicators properly light up when I hold down the "I-On/O-Off" but it doesn't stay pushed-in. If I start a washing cycle while holding down the button, the program works but only for as long as I hold down the button.

Help!

I realise this thread is old, but in the hope of being helpful to someone else...

I've had this problem a couple of times, and it seems that the switch is susceptible to dirt/grease which will stop it latching as you've described. In some cases I can get away with cleaning it from the outside, but sometimes you need to open the front of the machine, remove the circuit board, and give the switch a good clean. As soon as I have done this, mine latches. I expect the switch is worn and could do with replacement, but this might help someone keep a machine going.
