My Miele washing machine was started, the water started filling and after about 2 minutes stopped, drum not turning, long pause and then emptied out the water. The "short" and anti-crease/finish light came on.

After this and a couple of repeated failed starts there *ceased to be any light coming on for the purpose of starting any of the regular programmes. "Short" light is no longer on and anti-crease/finish is on.

Attempts by technician to read the error code with diagnostics failed, The brushes and element are fine.

Searches online pointed to fuse and relay control board issue caused by worn shock absorbers.

The fuse and relay were replaced - but still * this situation. Start light not coming on after 1 attempt to run with new fuse and relay. Could it be the SCR's? What else on the control board could be causing this?

Are you saying a Miele engineer couldn't fix it? Have you tried resetting by unplugging from the supply and leaving for half an hour? Does it work in spin only mode? Has the door lock/switch been tested?

The technician was going to get a new PCB board. A thread here pointed to the fuse and relay problem. Its difficult to even begin to consider the SCRs as there are no specs on the chips.

Yes did try resetting

No start light at all - can't test spin now.

A visual inspection of the PCB might tell you what will need replacing.

Bulging capacitors or any dry joints can cause this.

Faulty relays and fuses in washing machines can indicate deeper control board failures. A component like the XC9572XL-10TQ100C, known for its robust programmable logic, could be useful in designing or repairing control circuits for reliability.
How is everything now?
