"A Texas court grants a temporary restraining order stopping the sale of Liverpool Football Club, owners Tom Hicks and George Gillett claim."

Let's hope justice prevails *crosses fingers*

I can't for the life of me, understand how a Texas court can have any jurisdiction over affairs happening here in the UK.
Ok LFC is owned by Americans, but the initial court action took place here.

If I had an accident , could I issue proceedings in the US, in the hope of getting a bigger payout?
Don't think so. ;) ;) ;) ;)

From what i've heard and read about it John, you're correct - the Texan court has no legal jurisdiction over the sale proceedings here. However, given that the people 'buying' the club are American, and the main creditor - RBS - have massive US interests, these parties are keen to keep peace with the Texan court and not belittle it by simply ignoring the injunction. I can't see it lasting long before the injunction is lifted and the deal continues anyway, and i'd presume that RBS wont call in the debt tomorrow and put the club into administration now that the deal seems destined to be 'signed, sealed and delivered' so none of them are in a particular rush now.
