i live in doncaster, yet took my grandma and grandad to manchester airport yesterday morning . . .

I lived about 5 miles from the Heathrow perimeter for several years, in that time I only ever flew from Gatwick (over 30 miles away from home!)

Now I live 60 miles from Heathrow that seems to be the only airport I ever use

East Midlands was rebranded Nottingham East Midlands. Robin Hood is what was RAF Finningley

Had a hell of a job getting back to the A1 Northbopund afterwards though. I was following signs rather than a map, and I seemed to go all over Donny before I got out.

ah the trick is not to follow the signs! i notice plenty of signs to the airport, but none away from the airport lol. Sounds like you ended up going past the racecourse, then up thru belle vue and out balby way a630. They need to get a link road sorted out (from motorway to airport). Sound about right - Definitely did the racecourse and ended up coming onto the A1 near the new Redline (?) depot. You're right about the link road - The one reservation I have about the airport is how it will cope if it (ahem) takes off. When I left the airport, I had a choice between going to work in York really early, or going and having another hour in bed in Selby, and then going in. Turned out I got to work just in time in the end...
