Ive just bid on something on ebay, against the wifes wishes (christmas coming up, only me working now) but I had to...its a Mk2 front grill for my Capri and its brand new old stock blah blah blah

She will go mental if I win the bidding. Will mean hours of moaning and days of cold treatment and no sex BUT the grill would be like the cherry on the cake after the forthcoming full respray...either way, I'll be gutted. Gutted if I miss the grill but gutted if I cause a rift with er in doors at this particular point.

What should I wish for

How often do these grilles come up on Ebay?

I'd be inclined to buy the grille, and then take advantage of the silent treatment to fit the new grille in peace. :D

this one?

surely you're not going to tell her

Hide the cost in the new shoes, spa voucher etc you get her for Christmas

If she moans, threaten to withdraw sexual favours

Sorry, but I would be waiting with bated breath for my 'new shiny grill(e).

Can you not buy Her a little gift as a 'peace offering' !

Regards,

Ed

John - Thats the one ;) cool ain't it:cool: but yeah, she'll find me out in the statements when they arrive

RF - hadn't thought of that - win win realy :p i forgot I detest her and fancy the bird from the chipshop  I wonder if she likes Capris :)

Edward - I'm getting her an iphone as it is but she knows about that so it'l have to be a bunch of weeds from the garden and my last rolo :)

Bahco - Yeah  (said in james brown backing singer answerback style)

Solemmegetthisstraight...

You're forking out £270 odd of your own money on an I-Phone for her ... which she's both fine with and knows about...

... and yet she won't let you spend, what, £60ish of your own hard-earned on a part for your car because she wants you to buy stuff for her and other folks?

Sounds like all that pressure from her thumb on your head may be causing you to think a bit squiffy! ;)

What you should do is say "you're right, love. I can't afford grill that I want oh so very much because i'm buying you that phone that YOU want oh so very much. Thankyou for teaching me this valuable lesson on how to not be such a selfish person, consumed by materialistic wants".

Oh, and you may want to replace all vases/crockery with rubber vases/paper plates for the duration.

Sounds like a dragon to me I'd ditch her ;)

Start introducing her to people as "This is my first wife" ... She'll soon get the message

Waste of money ......I Know it`s a 1300 Capri

YOU asked for it  No, a stage 1 rebuilt 2.8 cologne V6 lives under my lightweight GRP bonnet...170 bhp a 5 speed box with short throw shifter, Sailsbury LSD...2" stainless steel (twin) exhausts, RS3100 alloys ;)

Ive spent 2 years bareshelling it...cutting, welding, replacing and renewing to an upgraded, modern, spec...sheding 110kg in the process
It has billet 4 piston brakes, slotted discs and kevlar pads, polybushes alround and new bilstein, suspension, set at a 2" drop.

The seats are freshly reupholstered to original spec, Ive got a brand new carpet and mats to go in and a new dash fascia.

In a week or 2 when Ive finnished the final body prep, its going for a full 2K acrylic Super Gloss Black respay...primer, 2 base coats and 2 clearcoats.

Nah, it all looks correct though - nothing that wasn't intended for a capri, be it a mk 1, 2 or 3....and nothing modern or chavy - its all period
Tbh, the 13" RS alloys were a dealer option on mk3s so only this mk2 grill will upset the anoraks. The mechanical upgrades are all unseen apart from the SS exhausts but they are the same style as they should be - not a dustbin ;) and you can only just see the big brakes between the 4 spokes.
I'll posting some pics in a bit ;)
