Not sure if this is the correct forum but here goes. I live in Croatia in a rural location with very weak mobile phone signal. I have received calls and text messages but it only works once in a blue moon. I have accepted this and always tell people to email rather than phone. It is now becoming a problem though because so many websites have started sending text messages with security codes as part of the login procedure. For this reason I'm trying to find a way to get my phone to receive these texts when I'm at home. It looks like I could either get a signal booster device or use wifi calling. I don't think my current phone (Samsung Galaxy A50) has that facility so I'm guessing I would need a new phone. I did look at the boosters but it looks like you need to specify which network it covers and whether it is 3G, 4G, 5G etc. Does anyone here have experience with these boosters?

If it’s just mobile calls you want to be able to make and receive at home, why not use a landline?

It's not the calls its the authentication code that's sent by text. I had the same problem living in rural England. I changed mobile networks. 3g is dead BTW

Does your existing mobile display the mode (2G/3G/4/5G) it primarily operating in? from that you may be able to determine which band the 'local' site is working in and get a booster for that. What you also need to know is the distance from the site and importantly, which will need technical advice from the network provider, is that distance less than the 'Timing Advance' distance. Know that info you may be able to get the active
booster to suit.
2G & 3G have limited lifetimes so really if your 'phone cannot operate as 4G/5G then it is time to change handset.

N.B: in the UK the TA distance is usually 30 or 36Km.

We've been going to the Peak District for years now and phone signal (even Tv and radio signal) is non-existent in some places. All okay now as long as we stay in a cottage with internet!

Looks like the OP will just have to get an iPhone or similar that is able to use WiFi calling.

In a similar situation many years ago using a Nokia Premicell provided reliable communication where normal mobile phones could not..

Premicell apears now to be a genetic term with many manufacturers supplying them, google premicell

I'm not clear how Wi-fi calling would help? The authentication code needs to be received by phone; not sent in a Wi-fi call made by you.

On a Galaxy a A25 there under Settings it says WiFi calling On/Off or press phone icon then the three little dots in top right corner to open the menu.
Regarding phone signal boosters, after wasting money on all sorts of boosters the one that I found to actual work comprises of a 240v panel indoors with a dome shaped antenna and a triangular shaped outdoors antenna but I dont know what band width you need to cover in Croatia

WiFi calling enabled your phone to route calls, texts and WA messages through your router if the mobile signal is weak or drops out.

BUT

Your mobile provider has to support it and your handset has to support it.
