Modulating Gas Valve

Looks like we are going to get Chinses gas valves and his PCB soon. Lets hope we find out soon so that we can boycott those makes of boiler. Lots of repair work though!
What on earth makes you think that Chinese valves and his PCB's will be worse than one of the mainstream manufacturer's?

Bring on free trade is what I say ... Greater competition means better deals for us all.

You dont see many Yanksee Yong Airbuses flying on world airlines!

Nor are there many chinese cars in the UK, in fact I cannot think of even one make and the Chinese ambassador has a Merc.

The plain fact seems to be that the Chinese have not yet mastered the production of high tech products to suit the Western markets. The Japs have made good cars and TVs but even they dont have jap planes or boilers in the Western market.

All the boiler makers have the same objective to lower the price of their boilers by using their own PCB so I dont see that anyone else will have a look-in.

The gas valve manufacture is still a rather specialised industry and only a very few firms do it. They make their profits from PCBs which are cheap to make when sold paired with their valves.

Still I dont see where the market for 100,000 units a year is expected to be!

I would live to have some names of those involved!

Tony

Total Combined volume of Honeywell / Dungs / SIT / Robert Shaw / Maxitrol etc etc Modulating Gas Valves currently in European Boiler Applications = Approx 21 Million.

There's alot of Boiler Control PCB's and Modulating Gas Valve combinations out there Tony. Last year alone we did over 100,000 PCB's for the industry and that was the UK only.

Potential volumes for pinching other peoples business. Huge.

Buying a potentially chinese valve (or any competitve/quality valve) would allow us to sell more UK designed and built PCB's. Surely thats a decent half way house Tony ?

Jason, it sounds like you work for a large organisation.
Would it not be within your reach to invest some of your profits and
manufacture the valves yourself???
£250,000 should be enough for set up costs.

If your interested i could front it for you, my role would be 50k per year and a place on the board of directors, Merc benz, 8 weeks payed leave per annum, flexi hours, company pension, working from home if i wish, oh and a rolex watch for when i retire. :D

Still curious how say Vaillant work it them. Some of their boilers can have a Honey or a SIT valve, link on the board to personalise it.

Our Atmos boilers have all sorts of mixtures -Intergas have SIt controllers and both Honeywell and SIT valves. The Coopras have I believe SIT board and Honeywell valves (comissioning one tomorrow; pictures and details to follow) and the Multi's use Honeywell valves and God knows who's boards (Daaldrops own I think)
