Moroccan Earthquake

We went to Marrakech in 2019 and did a cooking course. We've kept in touch ever since...

On hearing the news I sent an email asking about the people there, and have just heard back...

They are all ok, but sadly someone I met briefly died...

Since I speak reasonable French I was tasked with some of the shopping duties...

And since for some reason I can't post in the obituary thread so I have one to post here...

I don't recall his name, but we chatted and myself and my partner broke some bread with him...

They told me that he had gone to the Atlas mountains to visit family, and the village is now in ruins...

One of the Rogue's Vagabonds & Ne'er Do Well'rs MCC has visited Morroco regularly, sometimes 3x a year since he was in his early 20's & fresh out of uni. One of his favourite biking stories is when he stopped in a village looking for petrol & could only overcome the language barrier by pointing at his tank. He stayed in that village all summer, smoked himself silly & married one of the daughters.

His wife died some years ago but their children & grandchildren have lost most of that side of the family.

I understand it was the constant gloating, laughing and pleasure you were expressing when someone you didn’t like died that got you banned from that thread.

Nope, it was an ignorant thug troll that got me 'insufficient privileges'...

As it always does when it has been shown up time and time again as an ignorant oxygen thief!

But then the thug troll doesn't care about anything other than itself, so why would it care about the victims of the morrocan earthquake...

That is after all the point of this thread!

If a thug troll reports a post, the mods don't have time to read and digest all posts, so they just exclude the poster that was reported from the thread.
This was explained to me in an email from admin.

Sad as any death is, you must have a pretty high opinion of yourself if you feel that some bloke who you briefly met and whose name you can’t remember should be in the notable obituary thread just because he once chatted to you and broke bread with you and your partner. FYI It takes a bit more than that to become 'notable'.

What is 'notable' for one person may be no interest whatsoever to another.
