As per the title,

The garage say they made some kind of mix-up and the initial MOT report had failure report.

After telling me about the initial fail, I received a stressed call saying they made an error and would have to run the MOT again, which it passed fine.

But, annoyingly, the original erroneous fail report goes on my file.

Is it just a case of contacting DVLA to get the report removed?

Any experience with this kind of issue. Easy to sort or is it a bureaucratic nightmare.

Personally, I wouldn’t worry about it. All that matters is that it has a mot. If a potential buyer were that bothered to check previous failure items, they would assume that it had failed on them and then passed when they were replaced. If anything, it should be the MOT station that should get it corrected.

Yeah but its bragging rights that counts, my old 2009 banger failed its first mot on tyre in 2012, since then its passed every single mot upto latest mot in oct 2024 with mileage at 167k.

Bragging rights only work if the person you're bragging to, believes you.
So if you tell someone the only MOT fail you've had was an error by the garage, then technically your bragging rights are intact.
I doubt anyone will care though!

Not really a bragging thing - more shock in my case. Bought my 2004 Fiat van when it was 2.5 years old. Put it through it's first MOT at 3 years old, and - remembering it's a FIAT - the major shock is that it has never failed an MOT since. Only the odd advisory. She's 21 years old this year and still going strong.

So if we're bragging, I beat Londoner2.

I never had any of my cars fail an mot test for over 45 years. ;)

Are you sure it's a FIAT?
