Its a nice bright sunny day today, think I will pull my motorhome out and give it a good wash and prepare it for a long weekend up in the lake distict, will probably stay on the camping and caravanning club site just outside Kendal, very handy being of pensionable age you get a good discount.

Go for it!

I understand there's a waiting list to book the site in some area, a friend of mine have to book in advance unless it's the popular location site?

Because the camping and carvanning activity is becoming ever more popular, it is well advisable to book a pitch ahead to avoid disappointment with your chosen site.
This particular activity is great for kids, better than all the stress of being stuck in an airport.

I was refering to the rated -1 on your OP. Couldn't see anything wrong with it either.

Did see that but gone now :!:

I reckon someone mucking about

Washed and cleaned the motorhome inside and out looks really spiffing now, used one of those telescopic lances to wash it down, very easy. Last time I used a pair of step ladders to reach the top (10' high) but fell off the ladders and nearly killed myself.

How/why did you get a 'thumbs down' for your posting?

It wasn't me that 'thumbs downed' it, but i'd guess it was because its supposed to be a discussion forum and your thread didn't really attempt to start a discussion - it was more akin to something you might post on Facebook telling everyone what you're up to?

Or maybe whoever rated it was just in a grumpy mood....

I just sit in front of my computer and write whatever comes into my head, sorry if I might bore someone or other but I thought this was a general discussion forum.
If someone can give you the thumbs down anonymously I think that is rather sneaky, why don't they identify themselves and say that they don't like your post or if its possible send you a private message saying so??

Out of interest Malcolm what sort of camper do you have?
A friend of mine brought one of the new volkswagan campers that are modelled on the old classic , imported from Brazil and converted over here by Danbury. However, he's now got rid of it after only a few months, losing around five thousand in the process. The reason he sold it? He liked the van when it come to the actual camping but on the road he felt the handling and braking was verging on the dangerous. The steering was so bad , he told me, that on two or three occasions the vehical wandered across motorway lanes before responding and a near miss with the side of a lorry sealed it for him.

Over the last 20 years I have had 3 campervans and all have been Volkswagons, reliable and have a good resale value.
My first van was a type 3 hightop 2 ltr petrol with 67k on the clock when I bought it.
Had it for 10 years and got £5000 for it in part ex, then bought a beautiful type 4 2.5 turbo diesel for £22000 part exed that for VW coachbuilt that I have now, beautiful motor its only got 22k on the clock, will last me a lifetime.
The Brazilian look alike vans look ok but dont have the VW quality, they have upgraded brakes and heating, dont know what they are like to drive though, apart from that they are too small.
The motorhome I have now is roomy, comfortable, dual heating gas and electric, a proper toilet and a really good galley the bed is about 6' square, all in all a very nice van.
