MP Mark Field accused of assaulting Greenpeace activist

But what exactly did you mean by "I would have been much rougher with her"?

Harry would have got hold of her and said your rubbish at this protesting stuff and red doesn't suit you.

Woman said she is not making a complaint to plod

Which means to me that not enough force was used ;)

Should have kicked her up the arris on the way out if the door

Environmental protesters  most are dead beats and spongers ;)

These days it seems more like a straw man excuse in the absence of valid argument.

The If she was armed excuse you are pushing, might as well say If Field is a wife beater, thats why he was aggressive with her. You lack a valid argument other than supposition and hypotheticals.

So, she was doing wrong. Security might have been too late.

Might and If and but. Great argument.

You don't know that?

Where was Field when the comedian approached May. I didn't see him make an attempt to stop him. (y)

How I hate this police-speak - a male what?. Male is an adjective.

It can also be a noun. (y)

So, no wrong doing on Field's part, then.

He was wrong but nothing more than a lack of judgement and control, than assault. It showed more his lack of composure and desire to assert himself in a situation that did not require his involvement.

Harry made a pathetic 'keyboard warrior' comment which he now won't own!

Sadly a few others condoned said pathetic comment, and are similarly labelled...

Group cowardice!

Don't be a monkey

All these environmental protesters should be put on s plane and sent to China

They can protest out there and lay in the roads causing chaos

After all China is the biggest polluter

Dare say the Chinese government would be supportive

Hmmm. Methinks he’s been watching too much Star Trek.

What a load of bo lox.

Harshly and forcefully dealing with someone who may be concealing a weapon is fine.

Being a wife beater never is.

They are not comparable.

He has a reasonable defence. He was a bit rough, but the judgement test will be based on split second reasonable person test. He had a reasonable argument that she was about to commit a crime - perhaps assault, criminal damage etc.

"A person may use such force as is reasonable in the circumstances in the prevention of crime, or in effecting or assisting in the lawful arrest of offenders or suspected offenders or of persons unlawfully at large."

Its easy to judge him on the basis that she is a woman and he a big man, but she had a big grin on her face as she was being marched out. She certainly didn't seem to have been battered.

We have a saying around here, about boiling our cabbages twice. I said I would have been somewhat rougher with her barging in on the private function than Field was. There was anger on Fields face about the interruption, he showed considerable restraint. Maybe it wasn't his job to deal with it, but where were the security bods? Nowhere to be seen, so he dealt with it a best he could.

You keep saying this, and yet you won't explain what you mean...
(although you have now tempered the 'much' with 'somewhat')

So what exactly would you have done differently?
