this is because MPs arent paid enough for what is a pretty stressful job

for many years the salary has effectively been rather low and made up by expenses..........which doesnt look at all good, it looks like creaming in freebies whilst the rest of us starve

It looks particularly bad when its Labour MPs given its the party seen to be holding the moral high ground

I'm not convinced there is much the the "job" of an MP, Minister, defiantly, but they are paid a lot more.

They should have MP’s accommodation to the same standard as the armed forces when away from home and get charged for food the same as the armed forces. I believe its 1 travel warrant a month to their home address. Anything else they have to pay for exactly tge same as the armed forces.

Not eligible to be an MP (or draw benefits) unless you have been in employment for at least 2 years. Cant be a cabinet minister without undertaking suitable management training and if it goes pear shaped on your watch your out on your ear, the same as loads of other people who get sacked, dismissed or made redundant.
