Hi,

In the middle of a renovation and discovered this mystery wire. It goes from a switched fused spur along the skirting then up the wall in the corner of the room then along the cornicing and disappears into the ceiling in line with a blank.

Just want to know how to remove it, what it could be for etc. Assumed possibly for an emergency pull cord system? But nothing on the consumer marked up for it. Would it be coming off the socket circuit given the proximity to the socket next to it?

Have tried to show the route the wire takes.

Excuse the paint job, my mrs was let loose with the rollers.

Ps not damp on the wall, it’s mould killer.

Might of been for a heater maybe.

As to how to remove it, I don't think anyone will be able to tell you how, you will have have to trace the cable and disconnect it.

Ok, thanks very much.

In theory, if it’s a spur off the socket next to it, could I terminate the cable coming from the socket into a blank which would take the place of the switched fused spur and then remove the cable that runs up the wall?
