We were so poor as a kids, If I wasn't a boy, I wouldn't have had anything to play with...
I sold mine, along with all the magazines with the game codes in. Regret that now.
I kept my Space Lego, and some is still in tact I think ... also had boxes of farm toys and random stuff from when I was young that my parents kept in the loft, and my kids got to play with that, along with toy soldiers. I think I even have an action man in a box somewhere still, but not exactly in pristine condition...
I still have the screwdriver (somewhere) from my Meccano set that I had some 46 years ago.
Can't say I have used it since I was 9 - but I still have it lol.
I had a few of the figures and I think I had the tank. Even if I still had mine they'd be worth nowt as they were heavily played with, thrown here and there, rolled about in mud etc etc.Old Action man stuff is very collectable and gets high prices, particularly the 60's and 70's stuff. I worked with a guy 20 years ago who had an Aunt lived in Coalville, Leics. That's where the Palitoy factory was where most of the Action Man stuff was made. She worked there and when he was a kid she got him every Action Man bit of kit that came out. He had the Chieftain Tank, Armoured Car, all the uniforms (French Foreign Legion, German Stormtrooper etc.) all boxed never used. Worth a mint. His most prized possession was the ultra rare German officers Mercedes staff car which Palitoy only made briefly and only sold in a few shops.
Like riding agricultural machinery with indicators on.
A mate of mine once had one of those Russian copies of the BMW (a Ural?). I believe that the Ruskies packed the factory up in Berlin and took it east in 1945, lock stock and barrel, but left the box containing quality on the factory floor... That bike felt like you could plough a field with it. Well at least if the Ruskies had invaded in the 60s we wouldn't have had to worry about them getting too far riding Urals. It seemingly did about 20 miles per breakdown.
You used to play that? We have a guy at work who likes to twang saws, but he's never quite managed to get a tune out of it..And a Panel saw (?) which I still have and use & sharpen regularly.
