Thinking about boating electric power, we will have a huge amount of knowledge regarding this and such general issues as pressure proofing, drive trains, gland packing etc from submarine manufacture and usage and undersea exploration craft - all working in far more hostile conditions than MOST waterways...

Still wondering about the application of compressed air engines ... refills could be problematical .. not insurtmountable tho'.
