Hi, there is a leak in my outside tap copper pipe, I want to remove the pipe that connects under my sink and replace with a new one, do I need a blowtorch to remove the old one and what all would I need to install the new one again?

I have attached a pic of the connection that goes to the outside through the wall

Thanks
Paul

Could I solder repair with kit?

It is quite difficult to cleanly melt out the solder on a pipe that is wet with water. It 8s even more difficult to re-solder it.

I think you would to better to cut out a section and construct the replacement with compression joints

And I would definitely fit an isolating valve so you can cut of water to the outside pipe, from indoors, before risk of freezing.

Your priority for today is to cut and isolate inside the house to stop the leak. Fitting a new tap can wait.

You will need

Cutter

Good quality isolating valve (not an 80p one that will leak)

Pegler is a particularly good brand, and you can turn the T handle by hand, quickly and easily. Blue indicates cold water.

Some of these

Thank you, so do I remove the T connection then that is under the sink? And replace with a isolation valve is that correct?

Yes, and then later you can run your new tap pipe off it.

Or you could just cut out the Tee and use an equal 15mm coupler for now

You will likely need some more 15mm pipe unless there is some slack

Thank you the above items are in stock at my local Screwfix and I could collect this evening, I would need to be careful then I don't cut the old one too short

I should cut where the red lines are?
