I have potterton netaheat profile boiler 58. Two weeks ago, boiler function is stopped, no hot water or no central heating. But I put the Reset Button (Overheat button) Boiler is running for 20 min for 1st time and then 5 mins for afterwards every time I pressed that button.

I called in Boiler Repair, and this expert said I have to change the Motorizing parts , one for CH and one for HW. But no luck.

then He said again Pumper is not circulating enough power, so we changed. Nothing happened!

then he said again there must be blockage in system, need power flush and chemical to clean up the whole system. So he did clean up with the power flash things.

At this point, boiler working fine for that evening. But at that night, stopped everything again. No HW and No CH in the morning.

I spent a lot money as he said, and my faith is slipping away as well as money. Christmas is around the corner, I can not afford that experiments anymore.

I need help please! BTW i got 10 month old baby and we have so much trouble without HW as you can imagine. Please Help us!

In good times, Boiler is running on/off by itself continuously because we have program board, setting is set up as Continuously Mode. Therefore, HW is 24/7. If we need CH, we have thermostat wheel on the wall, switch it from there. Then even when boiler is on rest, start running again for CH.
We have tank to store hot water in the loft, two motors, each for CH and HW, finally Pump.

please if you have experiences that before or you know how to fix , let me know as soon as possible. I paid that guys 2/3 of the fees, before he pick up the rest I have to tell him to sort it out.
Please please

You presumably know that your boiler is old and most people would say it should be replaced.

They can usually be repaired but some spare parts are no longer available.

Yours sounds like a system fault and what has been done so far should have solved it.

On a properly installed system you would have a backup electric immersion heater for the hot water.

However, it does sound as if the person you have had has been less of an expert!

thank you , tony for this response,

My so called expert mentioned that if it is the boiler problem I am screwed, and thankfully it's not !! So I guess the boiler is still ok to do the work. By Look, it's ok to me coz of no leaking and rustles free and lime scale free.

And how can I tell if I Have backup electric immersion heater for the hot water. Because He didnt mention that I have it. If not, is it the problem to my case? Should I have it but how much cost of it??

Please help me what to tell him, once again thank you

Thanks for showing me what's the electric immersion heater look like.

So if we install that electric immersion heater then I don't need to Press my Reset button no more when the boiler fail to work??

I am just like a little kid with so many questions. Can you tell me how much it might cost?

please let me know, thanks again

The immersion is a heater on the hot water tank. There should be a switch for it nearby.

If its not been connected it would usually be £40-£140 to connect it IF the heater element is already fitted.

Tony

thank you, tony

Now I feel like i can see some light at the end of the dark tunnel.

So this back up electric heater will warm up the water in the tank automatically when My main gas boiler fail to work, right?

£40-140 is not that bad to me, but don't know what other elements are already fitted.

So, sound like I have to ask him to get me one of these then!

Thanks all of you time and help

Any other ideas or thoughts are always welcome , because I want more information to tackle that guy otherwise he think I am a dummy to feed on!

You may or may not have it fitted.

If it is then YOU have to go and look at it and turn the switch ON !

Tony

Again thank you!

Definitely I will check, but what is the exact thing I have to look for?

Around water tank?? or On Boiler? Or do you think it's better me ask that guy about that??

Thanks in millions
