I live in flats that all have a Veritas R8 alarm installed. My neighbours are away for a while over Christmas and their panel is beeping every 60 seconds.

It's driving me mad and really want to hear that I don't have to listen to it for the next two weeks.

Does anyone know how long this will go on for?

Ah... Great, I was hoping there would be some form of timeout. Am I right assuming it's a low battery beep?

Sounds very much like a mains fail warning. Mine does that if I have the mains off and it is really annoying!

The only thing that might happen before the neigbours come back is that the backup battery voltage may drop low enough to stop the panel working. The external sounder should trigger for about 20 mins after that.

Perhaps they flipped their trip switches when they left? Are the switches accessible to you? Do you have contact details for them/do you get on?

If it's actually a power failure alert, it will stop when the standby battery runs flat.

can't you report to landlord, if power has failed in the flat there could be worse consequences than the alarm noise.
