Never mind self checkout tills .No checkouts at all

Any chance of a thread that doesn't get side-tracked by childish bickering about who said what in what tone about something that doesn't matter?
No chance. All you can do is filter out the chaff as best you can.

Double standards right there.
Utter rubbish, I didn't.

But I don't think anyone minds drifting off-topic, it's the bickering that gets really tedious. Usually about some crap that nobody cares about that happened 3 years ago on a different thread.

I'm pretty new to this forum. My take is that it's extremely interpersonal here, and it detracts from sensible discussion and constructive disagreement. Some would be better off sticking to mumsnet, where the she said this stuff belongs.

I quoted Denso13 as being the one who posted the video “which he did” not you.

OK, apologies for misunderstanding. My point remains - topic drift is fine, it's called a conversation.

Stupid bickering doesn't help anyone and kills the thread as most people can't be arsed to read or contribute any more.

Apology accepted.

There’s certain people who post that will never ever admit they are wrong.

Then posts get removed and threads locked over and over again. I’ve been part of it. But recently the same people I bicker with have had plenty of threads locked.

I only really argue with Denso. Mainly because he picks bits out of context and tells the teachers.

I just follow the discussion in the thread, and usually don't even bother looking at who's saying it or remember who said what to who on some other thread ages ago.

Perhaps I'm unusual.

I joined yonks ago, didn't have any DIY questions for 8 years then returned to ask about something else.

I'm pretty new to this forum, i.e. General Discussion.
Fair enough.

I admit you’re right about the bickering. Not an excuse, but it takes two to tango.

I’ve blocked a poster because he hounded me constantly in every thread I posted in. He was relentless and oblivious to being wrong.

I’m not proud of it. It just makes posting a bit easier.

Denso has a bone to pick with me on most things. But he’s started helping me prove my points, so he’s not all bad.

((((HUGS ALL ROUND))))

No please not, I'd hate this place to become like MSE. I like a bit of rowdiness, I just wish so many threads weren't polluted by petty bickering about something irrelevant, or just bitching.

Put a bit of masking tape over the bit of your screen that has the poster's name displayed if you get bothered by who is saying it rather than what they're saying.
